Belated Happy New Year

Life has been very busy for the Burner’s…so busy I was never able to update our mail list so I could mail Christmas Cards, I apologize.  And the only reason I have the opportunity today is because Wendy left us… yes it is sad to say, can you believe it?!?!  She is enjoying herself in the warm Nairobi sun using her gifts of hospitality and care while the rest of us are suffering for the Lord here in Maryland’s balmy 30°F weather.  It hasn’t stopped me from riding though.  I have hooked up with a guy from our church and we regularly get out at least one day (or night—thanks to Wendy buying me some lights for my 43rd b-day) a week.  Last Friday night I went out when it was between 5°F and 10°F…it was fun.

Anyway, Wendy has been looking forward to helping out with her fourth AIM Women’s Retreat. The theme is “Basking in the Son”…and they are supporting this theme with beach stuff—the staff all have whistles and Life Guard shirts.  She left Friday with four over weight boxes of loot and is scheduled to return Monday the 2nd.  Please pray for her trip and the spiritual wellbeing of the women attending…may God Bless there time there.

Jeremy has become very involved in our local church and got a job at a local grocery store, Harris Teeter…

Joshua, Julia, and Jason enjoyed the long vacation and are back into the books.  In the last month Jason has enjoyed visits from some of his best friends from Africa (Their mothers were Wendy’s best friends in Kenya too.) …the Roadknight’s and the Gottfried’s.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please keep Wendy in mind as she serves at the Women’s Retreat in Nairobi.
  • As you know Wendy and I have been storming on what and how God will use us in Maryland—we haven’t found much leading. Wendy and I have always had a heart to care and support missionaries—that is what we did in Kenya and really have a heart to do here. Today I met with an Elder from our church that oversees missions, he told me the church has really been struggling in this area and has been praying for this need to be addressed.  Maybe this is what God had in mind for us all along…to help support the missions program at this church???
  • Jeremy is still on track for graduating from High School on June 7th.  He is still trying to figure out what God has for him next.
  • Our kids have essentially always been in Christian schools—mostly because we wanted them to have a good spiritual foundation.  That is really not a concern for us now…they all have a good grounded faith in Jesus…thus should they continue?  Furthermore, this year their school situation really helped them transition back to life in the States…but that is also not an issue now either.  So we are just asking ourselves, “Is Christian School where God is leading us for next year?”

Heb 6:18b-20a
We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us.

IS THIS YOUR LAST BURNER BREIF????

The Burner’s want to extend one more thank you for faithfully being apart of our ministry over the past four plus years.

As you all know, God has moved us back into the hustle and bustle of life in the US...for what reason we still do not know. But we do know God’s hand is in it and we are waiting on Him to use us in new and different ways.

In the meantime, since we are no longer involved in regular full time ministry we have decided NOT to send regular Burner Briefs (up dates) anymore. Furthermore, we wanted to give you all the opportunity to gracefully fall off our update list if you so choose. It seems sad to say this because it feels like we are loosing a part of our family; since we have coveted your prayers over the years.

However, we will continue to infrequently update this website.

If you still would like to receive irregular e-mail updates (such as a Christmas letter, graduation announcement etc...) just click the link and e-mail us: Michael Burner and we will keep you on our Burner Brief list. Please also provide us with a current address so we can send you a Christmas Card.  We would love to still keep up with your families as well.

It has been an honor to have all of you as a part of our missionary journey over the last four years and we will never forget all you have done for us….
